Marinated Mushroom Market
Polish, Czech and Lithuanian buyers are actively seeking wholesale suppliers of marinated mushrooms from Ukraine. The most in-demand products are marinated white mushrooms (Boletus edulis) and chanterelles. HS code: 2001.90 (vegetables, fruit and fungi prepared in vinegar).
EU retail price: €4–8 per 314 ml jar. Wholesale ex-works price: €0.80–1.50 per unit depending on raw material and packaging. Highest demand: August–December.
Food Safety Requirements
A manufacturer of marinated mushrooms for the EU market must hold an HACCP certificate and be registered in the SSFSF (State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service) enterprise registry. Each consignment is accompanied by a quality certificate and a veterinary-sanitary certificate.
The product is classified as a "processed product of plant origin". When registering in TRACES, a production process card and microbiological and chemical analysis results from the past 6 months are required.
Packaging and Labelling
The most common EU packaging: glass jar 314 ml or 720 ml (twist-off or euro-twist lid). Labelling must include: product name in the destination country's language, ingredients, BEST BEFORE date, allergen hazard class, net weight and drained weight.
Transport packaging: cardboard cartons of 12 or 24 jars. Cartons are stacked on EUR pallets of 48 or 72 boxes. Shelf life: 24 months from production date.
Logistics
Standard route: road transport Ukraine–Poland–EU. Canned products require no refrigeration, simplifying logistics. A full truck (82 m³, 24 t) holds approximately 2,000 cartons of 12 jars of 720 ml.
